Anna Dao ~ From Mali to Manhattan: A Spiritual Journey ~ ETE Episode 25

A Message from Anna: I am Anna, a woman of my time living in an uncertain and unstable world. I am a daughter, a sister, an auntie, and a friend who loves to share the wisdoms that helped me find my seat—meaning be grounded and settled within, and live comfortably in my own skin while navigating life’s trials and tribulations. I am the legacy of all those who raised and nurtured me. I am what they have left to let you know that they were once here. In my native country Mali, it is said that: “when an elder pass away, it is as if a library burned.” Hence, I am the library my grandmother and the elders of our community tirelessly built – the keeper of the good path – the ancestral teachings and philosophy of life passed down through generations from their forefathers, to them to finally me. Through the years, my exploration of life led to an existence well-lived thus far.  I invented and re-invented myself many times. Ultimately, Lalla and the elders of my community came to my rescue. Their teachings were instrumental in helping me reconcile with all the many facets of who I am both inside and out. Today I work for the city during the day, and I write my memoir at night.
